Reset Your Compass

The Gifts of Dreaming Big and Taking Action

In my opinion three of our greatest gifts are the ability to dream big, the resourcefulness to reach beyond our own horizon, and the freedom to take action all of which take us on a journey.

The Challenges of Life's Journeys

Life's journeys can create brilliant and empowering stories and take us to amazing places. Yet in my experience even the most creative and successful people can get lost, feel stuck or find themselves at a crossroads without a clear direction.

This can happen for all sorts of reasons. They perhaps outgrow their current circumstances; their values and goals no longer match their reality, they achieve success in one area of life at the cost of another or they become worn down by life and need a new adventure.

Whilst this can be an uncomfortable place to be, it is often a precursor to taking action and making change.

Navigating Change and Taking Action

In these scenarios people react in different ways. Some stand still but in my opinion you can get knocked over. Others sit on the fence, yet its the perfect way to get splinters where it will hurt. Another percentage will take a new direction without a plan, direction or a destination.

The free spirited people of the world often approach their journey with spontaneity. They are comfortable in unfamiliar terrain, allowing life to surprise them.

Others prefer to be at the helm of the ship steering in the direction they have chosen in order to create the experiences they would like to have.

As someone who is task oriented, something of a finisher completer, the risk for me is that I can be so focused on reaching the destination I can forget to enjoy the route, the chance meetings, the juicy moments and the stories that can emerge along the way. A mantra that I am learning to live by is to be focused on the results and to be flexible on the journey.

Regardless of the approach, the resourceful people of the world take stock and reset the compass. They learn to focus their lens and imagine their ideal image of life in as much detail as possible, just like taking a look through life’s binoculars.

Once you are clear about your current location and your future destination creating a road map to bridge the gap becomes possible. Road maps or action plans can be invaluable because in life it is easy to get lost or take unnecessary detours that can lead to dead ends.

Building Mental Fitness Through Purposeful Action

In order to build mental fitness it is important to be on a journey, moving forward and to be focused on creating the results you want whether that be in your personal or professional life.

To maximize impact, I help people to break down the journey into smaller bite sized chunks, create milestones to focus them and to help them to stay on route headed towards their preferred life.

Adventurous coaching can help you to reset the compass, navigate your way through transitions and have you feeling inspired again with pace, clarity and direction.

The words of George Elliot mirror my belief -  “It’s never too late to be who you might have been”. This my friends, this is an invite to reset your compass and set sail. Are you in?
