What does adventure mean to you?
“The pursuit of curiosity and willingness to embrace uncertainty or the unknown.” I think as long as whatever you’re doing aligns with that, it will be an adventure!
Tell me what sort of adventures are you currently enjoying?
I’m cutting back a tad on the so called “traditional forms” of adventure and focussing more on the adventures in the business world and how I can use my background to have a positive impact on other people’s lives.
What have you learned from having an adventurous lifestyle?
That you need to go with the flow! If you’re always moving forward, things are constantly changing and you need to be comfortable with that and enjoy the fact that you don’t really know what’s around the corner.
How has life changed for you because you make time for adventures/activities that you love?
Just much more balanced and a better perspective on everything. I’ve always been about variety and I crave it. I’m not one of these people that has just one thing in their life. Part of me is intrigued by the people that do but at the same time I know who I am and I’m comfortable with that.
How do you motivate yourself when you need to push yourself over the hump?
I honestly don’t feel the need to “push myself over the hump” I know it’s going to be a rocky path ahead and am prepared to take the rough with the smooth as I know it’s just all part of the journey and process to achieving your goals going forward. One thing I would say is I’m very aware that nothing is going to happen or help you unless you help yourself. That is burned into my skull and keeps me focussed.
How do you keep a positive mind set?
I’ve tried to rewire myself to have a positive outlook on everything. There’s always ups and downs in life but I want to focus on the positives, remain upbeat and cut out any negativity in my life. Surround yourself with similar people and that will make a BIG difference.
What is one piece of advice that was given to you that you have taken to heart & used?
Do what you say you’re going to do!
What piece of advice to you want to share from your experience?
Keep moving forward, keep trying new things, taking risks, meeting new people and feeling “alive”.
Who inspires you to continue to have adventure as part of your life?
I’ve never really had any one person to look up to specifically. I’ve taken inspiration from multiple sources over the years and will continue to do so. I think Richard Branson would be the closest. Having the balance he has is admirable and something I strive towards too.
I’d like to thank Matt for sharing his passion for life’s adventures and helping to inspire us all to turn up the heat on life’s adventures. You can find out more about Matt Prior here.
